NAIA winter championships are in full effect and in the next two weeks top teams in NAIA Division I and II Men’s and Women’s Basketball will compete in what’s coined College Basketball’s Toughest Tournaments. Each host site will feature 32 teams, 31 games and 1 national champion! It’s wall-to-wall basketball! We hope you’ll take some time to explore NAIA hoops in the coming weeks.

The NAIA is proud to partner with CBS College Sports Network to broadcast live the NAIA Division I and Division II men’s and women’s basketball championship finals. The Division II title games are scheduled for Tuesday, March 15 while both Division I contests will air on March 22.

The Division II Women’s Basketball Championship final will tip-off the coverage on Tuesday (March 15) at 7 p.m. CT. The Division II men will tip-off after the women’s game at approximately 9 p.m. CT.
On March 22, the Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship begins the evening with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The NAIA Division I men will play for the title following the women with the broadcast slated to go live at 9 p.m. CT.

March 9-15, 2011 – NAIA Division II Men’s & Women’s Basketball
20th Annual NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship
The event is hosted by College of the Ozarks and played at Keeter Gymnasium in Point Lookout, Mo. NAIA student-athletes will find themselves in the heart of Branson, Mo. a town that hosts nearly 8 million visitors each year and attracts some of country music’s top talent. In this year’s 32-team field, seven teams are competing in their 10th-or-more National Championship and eight programs sport at least 10 victories. A few teams in this group to pay attention to are No. 4 Bellevue (Neb.), No. 3 Cornerstone (Mich.) and No. 6 Embry-Riddle (Fla.). All three advanced at least to the quarterfinals last season and were ranked in the top 10 in the Coaches’ Top 25 Poll for the duration of the 2010-11 season.

20th Annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship
The event is hosted by Sioux City Convention Center, Tyson Events Center and the Events & Facilities Bureau, and the Sioux City Sports Authority. The national championship event is contested inside the Tyson Events Center also known as “The House” in Sioux City, Iowa. Saint Francis (Ind.) (25-8) and Cedarville (Ohio) (22-9), two at-large bids, will jumpstart National Championship action on Wednesday (March 9) at 8:30 a.m. The Cougars, who have been a stronghold in the top-10 this season, will look to avoid a first-round upset, after losing to Aquinas (Mich.), 67-65 (OT), last year. En route to its third national title last season, Northwestern (Iowa) plowed through its competition, setting a new record for most points scored with 457. NAIA All-American and 2010 Tournament MVP Becca Hurley returns to Sioux City looking for a second straight title.

March 16-22, 2011 – NAIA Division I Men’s & Women’s Basketball
74th Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship
The event is hosted by the NAIA and Heart of America Athletic Conference and attracts over 40,000 fans to historic Municipal Auditorium in the heart of downtown Kansas City, Mo. Coined College Basketball’s Toughest Tournament it is the longest running national collegiate tournament in any sport. This year the NAIA will induct Scottie Pippen, Travis Grant, Terry Porter and Bill Odell into the NAIA Hall of Fame during the anticipated tournament tip-off event on Tuesday, March 15th. The NAIA will partner with the Victory Sports Network (VSN) on the announcement of the 32-team National Championship bracket on Wednesday, March 9. VSN will be the exclusive home for the live, free video-streaming show to air on www.VictorySportsNetwork.com. The Division I men’s show will run from 7-7:30 p.m. CT.

31st Annual NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship
Each March the hottest ticket in town is for a seat at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. Since 1990, teams and fans from around the country make their way to Jackson each year for the NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball National Championship. Games get underway on March 16. The final regular-season Coaches’ Top 25 poll and 32-Championship qualifiers will be officially announced on March 9 by 3 p.m. CT. That announcement will be made on www.NAIA.org. The NAIA will partner with the Victory Sports Network (VSN) on the announcement of the 32-team National Championship bracket. VSN will be the exclusive home for the live, free video-streaming show to air on www.VictorySportsNetwork.com. The Division I women’s show will run from 6-6:30 p.m. CT.
