Thousands of NAIA student-athletes recently wrapped up an exciting winter sports season. There was a Cinderella story out of Kansas City when Pikeville knocked off five top-10 seeds in their run at a NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship title. Cornerstone University won the hearts of many when the team’s MVP handed off his trophy to a young boy with cancer and teams in the Golden State Athletic Conference dominated the pool scene. We’ve recapped the NAIA’s winter national championships below and hope you’ll take some time to learn more about the student-athlete experience.
NAIA winter championships are in full effect and in the next two weeks top teams in NAIA Division I and II Men’s and Women’s Basketball will compete in what’s coined College Basketball’s Toughest Tournaments. Each host site will feature 32 teams, 31 games and 1 national champion! It’s wall-to-wall basketball! We hope you’ll take some time to explore NAIA hoops in the coming weeks.
This week former Milligan College basketball standout and NAIA Hall of Famer Del Harris will be among the best of the best in the sports business when he presents at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference.
Tickets to the 74th Annual Buffalo Funds-NAIA Division I Men’s Basketball National Championship go on sale Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at 10 a.m. (CT).
Let me take a little time to write about Travis Grant and his incredible accomplishments! Sometimes we get wrapped up in the hype or try to generate hype…..and then there are times when the facts just speak for themselves.
